STEM Professional Development Specialist

 Prime Time Palm Beach County is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that afterschool programs are of high quality in terms of delivery, practice and standards.  To accomplish this mission, Prime Time seeks a Professional Development Specialist to:

• Provide professional development, technical support, and instructional coaching to afterschool practitioners regarding the implementation of S.T.E.M.-based activities and curricula with an emphasis on project based learning.
• Provide professional development, technical support, and instructional coaching to afterschool practitioners while supporting an integrative approach to S.T.E.M education and developing a long term plan for implementation.
• Conduct observation-feedback sessions with practitioners and provide S.T.E.M.-related resources to help develop and strengthen practitioner competencies in this area.
• Foster collaborative efforts between administrators and practitioners to support continuous improvement through professional development endeavors.

Candidates must have: Extensive knowledge of the content and methodology of S.T.E.M related teaching and learning and adult learning theory; be self-motivated, creative and innovative; able to transform theory into practice, - particularly as it relates to S.T.E.M-based activities - and able to model key youth development practices for afterschool practitioners. Must have own transportation – requires traveling within Palm Beach County.

 Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Science or Math Education.  Will also consider a degree in social services, psychology, counseling, or related field, supplemented by a minimum of three years of professional experience in S.T.E.M. Education. Experience in afterschool programming highly preferred.
