Scholarship Program Requirements

Scholarship applications must be submitted at least three business weeks in advance of class, conference, and/or event.  Click the following link for scholarship application deadline dates: http://www.primetimepbc.org/PDF/ScholarshipDeadlines2008-2009.pdf

Late applications will not be accepted.

1.             ELIGIBILITY:

Management and frontline professionals employed in an afterschool program working with school-age children.

2.             AWARDS:

°          40-hour school-age certification.

°          School-age related college and university course work.

°          Local training/education opportunities that promote quality afterschool programming and management, such as grant writing workshops, conflict resolution seminars and training in staff management.  Conferences, training, workshops, and events must be directly related to the school-age afterschool field.

3.             PRIME TIME SCHOLARSHIPS COVER:

Three scholarships per person per fiscal year for college credit class registration and book costs, and four scholarships per person per fiscal year for college non-credit class registration and book costs.  Prime Time's fiscal year begins October 1st and ends September 31 of the following year.

Scholarship awards given to applicants taking college classes will cover the full tuition amount for the approved class(es), as well as the full cost of textbooks for the class(es).

Scholarship awards for conference, training, workshop, or event registration costs will pay the registration fee for the approved event. The maximum award for in-state events is $350.00 and the maximum award for out-of-state events is $450.00.

The difference, if any, between a conference registration fee and the maximum award amount will be available to the scholarship recipient for reimbursement of approved travel expenses including transportation, meals and lodging.   Maximum reimbursement amounts for meals are as follows: breakfast - $10.00; lunch - $15.00; dinner - $20.00, not including the cost of alcoholic beverages or taxes incurred

Original receipts, the conference reimbursement request form (which can be downloaded from our website), and the certificate of attendance with presenter’s sign-off must be submitted within ten business days from the conference end date in order to be considered for reimbursement.

Prime Time scholarships do not cover general education college requirement classes such as college algebra, college composition, etc.

Prime Time scholarships do not cover out-of-state tuition (except for conferences).

4.             APPLICATION PROCESS:

Prime Time will not reimburse class, conference, or event registration costs that the scholarship applicant has prepaid.  If your scholarship is approved, Prime Time will process payments directly to the school or conference/event sponsor.

If you are applying for a class, you must register with the college before submitting a scholarship application (you will need to supply your college student identification number on the scholarship application).

Complete the attached Prime Time Professional Development Scholarship application.

Send completed scholarship application with your college transcripts and/or conference registration form by mail or fax to Nicole Tarsia (Please see contact information below).

Upon approval of your application we will process payments for conference/event registration fees, in-state tuition and/or books.  Palm Beach Community College bookstore will allow you to get the books for your approved Prime Time Scholarship for Palm Beach Community College courses ONLY.

You will be notified by mail, email and/or phone at your center of employment if your scholarship application has been approved.

If you decide to cancel or drop a class, conference, or event after you have submitted your Prime Time Scholarship application, you must notify Prime Time in writing immediately.  Failure to do so will exempt you from future Prime Time scholarship opportunities.

Within three business weeks after the event end date, please submit proof of completion – i.e. your class grades report or certificate of attendance with presenter’s sign-off – along  with the scholarship follow-up form which is included with the scholarship application.  Failure to do so may exempt you from future Prime Time scholarship opportunities.

NOTE:  All applications will be considered on a first come, first serve basis for approved classes, conferences, and events only.  However, priority funding will be given to applicants who have not previously been awarded a Prime Time Professional Development Scholarship.
