Prime Time and Youth Speak Out International Partnered to Bring Social and Emotional Youth Enrichment Program to Juvenile Detention Center – Prime Time Palm Beach County
Prime Time Palm Beach County
Boynton Beach, FL – Prime Time Palm Beach County and Youth Speak Out International partnered to bring a life-changing two-week program, Life’s Purpose™, to the Palm Beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center so youth, ages 14-18 years old, could have the opportunity to empower themselves and their families to live a purposeful life.
“I created my purpose, mission and life goals. I now have to live by these codes. I will be successful in life.” – participant of Life’s Purpose™ , 17 years old, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Palm Beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Through the Life’s Purpose™ program, the youth explored their purpose and mission in life by participating in group discussions, mentoring, self-exploration, and collaboration with peers and adults to better equip them to enter the workplace. Youth worked with mentors in both small and large groups, discussing and documenting personal three-year goals and reflecting on personal knowledge gained to create a Life’s Purpose™ collage that helped them to visualize their purposefulness in ways to manifest their present thoughts into future realities.

“I’ve worked at DJJ for more than 15 years and Life’s Purpose™ Youth Empowerment Program is one of the most effective life skills programs I have encountered.” – Assistant Detention Center Superintendent Captain Welton Sanders, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Palm Beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Participants learned to operate production equipment to document their personal experiences along the way. Their stories were showcased at a culminating forum where they presented their personal mission, purpose and three-year goals to each other, family, friends, mentors and professionals in the community.
“Thank you for helping my son make a change in his life. He now talks about having goals and wanting to finish high school.” – Parent of Life’s Purpose™ participant, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Palm Beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
